Thoughts on the Squeelers Game

October 18, 2009 7:57 pm
1   The wildcat has potential as long as Cribbs uses his arm once in a while.

2   Run, run, pass is not successful. It is too predictable. The OC needs to realize this or pack up his office.

3   Cribbs is the shiznit. Show the man some money.

4   DA is not the QB to lead this team. As painful as it is to watch I think BQ has to be in there to learn and develope. The only touch I saw on a DA pass today was one he threw away out of bounds. Everything else had a flaming tail to it.

5   Our underneath coverage is horrible. We got picked apart underneath all day long with LB covering recievers while the safties were way downfield.

6   Open field tackling by our DB's is embarrassing.

7  The O-line is doing a very good job compared to the first two games.

8   The receiving corps need to stand 10 feet in front of a football throwing machine for 3 days straight with no breaks. Cath the damn ball!!!!

9   Penalties are no longer the factor they used to be and this pleases me very much.

10  Our D-line gets a game ball for only allowing 140 yds against a strong running team.

Again, thanks for letting me post in here. Go Browns!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thoughts on the Squeelers Game

October 23, 2009 4:29 pm

Sorry for the late response, but like Skid feared, people don't seem to be using this that much...

The wildcat has potential as long as Cribbs uses his arm once in a while.

Unfortunately, Cribbs took the bullet for Anderson and threw the interception in the red zone.  That was a poor throw he made and an even worse read.  He seemed to panic, knowing it was a designed throw, and he got the ball out before the receiver--who was already running a short pattern--had time to make a break.

That said, they do need to allow Cribbs to throw more... it's the only way people will respect the Flash package.  Also, he should hand off more often from that package, as to vary the defense when he lines up in the backfield.

Seeing so much of the Flash package really underscores how poorly the coaches think of Derek Anderson.  It really speaks volumes to me and drives home the point that Quinn was probably sat due to contract conditions and not performance.  I will not be surprised to see Quinn back under center starting after the BYE week.

Run, run, pass is not successful. It is too predictable. The OC needs to realize this or pack up his office.

He's a first time playcaller with zero coordinator experience.  It was bound to happen.  The problem was, no one else was willing to work with (under) Mangini.  Daboll is the best we've got until Mangini is shown the door.

Cribbs is the shiznit. Show the man some money.

If it's just an extension he wants, why not?  Cutler just got two years at $30 million (with $20 million guaranteed).  Cribbs isn't someone to built around for the future and he's not an impact player on offense or defense... but he's really the only exciting player we have left on the squad.  That alone is worth at least consideration.

Give him an extension worth a couple million with some of that money tied to performance.

DA is not the QB to lead this team. As painful as it is to watch I think BQ has to be in there to learn and develope. The only touch I saw on a DA pass today was one he threw away out of bounds. Everything else had a flaming tail to it.

Derek Anderson can suck it.  Not only is he the worst quarterback in the NFL (behind a long list of accomplished losers like JaMarcus Russell)... he might be the worst player regardless of position in the NFL.

We deserve better.

I would rather watch Ratliff run for his life back there than watch another minute of Anderson.

Our underneath coverage is horrible. We got picked apart underneath all day long with LB covering recievers while the safties were way downfield.

Barton is the worst linebacker we've ever had on the team.  I would happily take: Ben Taylor, Chaun Thompson, Kevin Bentley, Willie McGinest, Andra Davis, David McMillian and Antwan Peek over Barton any day of the week.

Open field tackling by our DB's is embarrassing.

Our DBs are embarassing.

The O-line is doing a very good job compared to the first two games.

Again... after that bar was set so low, a statement like this is akin to saying someone is "the smartest person with Down Syndrome".

Fun Fact:  Derek Anderson actually is the smartest person with Down Syndrome.

The receiving corps need to stand 10 feet in front of a football throwing machine for 3 days straight with no breaks. Cath the damn ball!!!!

The announcers made reference to Anderson keeping his receivers after practice for hours this past week and standing 10 yards away and throwing football at them.

I don't know what is more pathetic after hearing that information...

1. The receivers still cannot catch a ball
2. Anderson still cannot throw an accruate ball 10 yards

Penalties are no longer the factor they used to be and this pleases me very much.

All those laps.

Either that, or trading away Kellen Winslow and cutting Kevin Shaffer.

Our D-line gets a game ball for only allowing 140 yds against a strong running team.

I don't think anyone deserves a game ball from the Pittsburgh game.  The only reason they gave up 140 rushing yards is because the Steelers abandoned the run since they were able to throw for 417 yards on us.

Maybe Cribbs gets the gameball, but even at that, it's a hollow award.

Again, thanks for letting me post in here. Go Browns!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good post, keep it up!  We need more chatter on this message board!
